Course Content

Our courses are designed to support students pursuing a career in performance with a specific focus on ballet. Classical ballet education will incorporate technical tuition in adage and corps de ballet repertoire, solos, pas de deux and virtuosity.

Our Full Time Course is a 3 year HNC/HND Professional Dance Performance (SQA Higher National Diploma). The HNC is covered in the 1st year, the HND is covered in the 2nd year. This is together with the MGA Academy.

Our 3rd year, Peter Schaufuss Diploma course is EFBS's own Pre Professional Programme, propelling the student to being a professional dancer.

New 23/24 will introduce a 4th year graduate student company. The course will give the student opportunity to work in a professional environment working with international choreographers and help them to prepare for life in a full time company. These students will have the opportunity to work along side the EFB company during the year as well as dance in their own shows to be seen by other professionals.

Beyond the basis of technical excellence, the course will nurture a wider range of skills required by the professional performers of tomorrow.

As further preparation to break into such a demanding and rewarding industry, students will be mentored in audition techniques and performance style, with the ultimate aim of achieving artistic eloquence on any stage.

As a showcase of their progress and of how their skills translate into a professional career, students will have the opportunity to give public performances of productions throughout each academic year in the iconic 'Ashton Hall' at Saint Stephen's Edinburgh.

Upon completion, graduates will be presented with an SQA Higher National Diploma & Peter Schaufuss Diploma.
